Armenia is a country full of wonders, and there are some destinations you can’t stop visiting. For example, the Tsitsernakaberd is one of them.

This is one of the most important places in Yerevan and Armenia. On April 24, 1965, a mass demonstration was held in Yerevan for the first time in the Soviet Union, in which about 100 thousand people participated. As a result, the union leadership gave the green light, and in the western part of Yerevan appeared a giant complex of Tsitsernakaberd or Swallow Fortress.

It consists of a stele divided in two and an eternal flame framed by a cone of 12 marble slabs. Stella symbolizes the west and east of Armenia, and the slabs represent the 12 lost regions of the country. This is quite an exciting attraction if you are interested in dark tourism.

Another destination of interest in the country is the Erebuni Fortress-Museum. The fortress dates back to 782 B.C. That is, it is three decades older than what you will find traveling in Rome. And since the age of Yerevan is considered to be since the construction of Erebuni, it turns out that the capital of Armenia is older than one of the oldest and largest cities in the world.
