Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
WHAT IS THE BELGIUM ETIAS AND WHY DO I NEED IT?
The European Travel Information and Authorization System or ETIAS was created by the EU Commission to strengthen the external borders of the European continent, and prevent any and all possible threats. The American ESTA, Canadian, and Australian eTA are all similar travel authorization systems.
As per the experience of other countries with similar travel authorization systems an approximation of 95% of applications would be approved and communicated to applicants within a matter of minutes. Fingerprints / other biometric data will not be required for the same.

I AM FROM MARSHALL ISLAND, DO I NEED A BELGIUM ETIAS?
This ETIAS travel authorization document will be issued and valid for 3 consecutive years and will allow you to visit Belgium for business, medical or transit purposes and is required if you are a citizen of one of the 62 countries listed that require this particular authorization. Marshall Island is one of these countries.

WHAT DOCUMENTS WILL I NEED FOR ME AND/OR MY CHILDREN?
The only major document you need in order to apply is a valid passport.
Every traveller, including infants and elderly persons need to present a travel authorization upon their arrival in order to enter. The only difference being, people under the age of 18 are exempt from paying the fee. For minors, only the legal guardian can apply for ETIAS and family members of EU citizens from other countries must submit - proof of relationship, residence card, and other background information.
However, try to make sure that you have the following in addition to your passport:
- A digital photograph that is not stuck to the passport
- An electronic passport chip on the passport– not mandatory, but would provide an advantage
- A machine-readable code on the passport
IS ETIAS A VISA? DO I NEED IT IF HAVE THE SCHENGEN VISA?
The ETIAS authorization is not a visa and Nationals of visa-liberalization countries can continue to travel to the EU without a visa but with the addition of a travel authorization via ETIAS prior to their travel. While a Schengen visa procedure can take around 15 to 60 days, the ETIAS online application only takes a maximum of 10 minutes to fill up.
If you currently have a Schengen Visa, this means that you are not part of the list of the countries, which are visa-exempt. Hence, you will not need an ETIAS authorization. You can instead, present your visa to the border authorities when you enter the Schengen Zone countries. Whenever your visa expires, you may apply for the ETIAS - given that you are eligible.
WHAT ARE iVISA.com’S PRICES & PROCESSING TIMES?
Since this is a relatively new procedure, it is not easy to directly mention an exact price for each nationality. We have mentioned below, some information about the same so you can have a better idea in mind while creating your application:
- Standard Processing Time: This is the least expensive option available and the one generally taken up by travelers who are not in a rush. This allows you to wait a few days before you obtain your document.
- Rush Processing Time: According to this method, you will be able to receive your document much faster than the standard time. This involves a slightly higher fee.
- Super Rush Processing Time: This alternative is definitely the fastest of all the processes. We will push your request to the top of the queue, for a service fee higher than a Rush, but one that allows us to process your documents as quickly as possible.
WHAT BACKGROUND-RELATED QUESTIONS WILL BE ASKED?
The information required by the EU authorities is only asked in order to address the security concerns for all tourists - given that they have declared their goal to make travelling within the EU a more secure experience.
If what you entered in the application is found to be correct, and you are eligible / not at high risk, you will be approved in only a few minutes. But if there is a setback detected, the application will be manually processed which might take approximately 4 to 14 days.
Here are some basic points that might be useful to think upon:
- Your educational background and work experience
- The first country in the Schengen zone you plan to visit
- Medical conditions that pose a public health risk
- Prior travel to war ridden countries
- Instances where you may have been deported/denied entry
- Criminal records, if any
This is the basic information we have as of now. We recommend you reach out to our customer service center if you require further details.
DO I NEED THIS DOCUMENT IF I’M SIMPLY PASSING THROUGH BELGIUM?
Even if you need to complete a stopover, it’s still mandatory to apply for the ETIAS to enter Belgium. If not, you may end up having problems or even losing your connecting flight.
For example, If you have stated in your application that the first country you will visit is Switzerland, you must go through it first before you visit other countries. After entering the first one, you can visit the others.
However, the ETIAS does not just guarantee entry into the EU countries. This is entirely at the discretion of the border authorities. Make sure you remember that there are some countries in the EU that are not in the Schengen Zone, and you understand that you will not be able to access them with just the ETIAS authorization.
How many times will I be allowed to enter the EU with an ETIAS?
You can enter the EU / Schengen member countries multiple times with no limit, under the condition that the ETIAS is valid, and you haven't overstayed ie. more than 90 days inside of a 180 day time period.
