Most of the travelers around the world who wish to visit Cuba are eligible for a Cuba Tourist Card. Such a document does not require going to an embassy. Instead, you can get it from the airline you are traveling with (not all of them provide that service) or from a travel agency. However, the most convenient way to get your Cuba Tourist Card is to apply online. iVisa offers such services, and it can help you get the document in as little as 1 business day. The entire process is online, and you should have an easy time going through it.
Requirements
Apart from not having to go anywhere, iVisa also gives you the advantage of a simple application form. You do not have to upload any documents, but you need a passport to get started. While you do not need to meet many requirements before your departure, the following documents are necessary when you arrive in Cuba:
-
Passport – the passport you have needs to maintain its validity for at least another 6 months from the date of arrival in Cuba. If it does not, you need to get a new one.
-
Tourist Card – the document that iVisa will send to you via postal mail.
-
A flight itinerary both to and from Cuba.
-
Travel insurance – this is a rule that began to take effect back in 2010. If you do not have travel insurance, you have the option to purchase one once you arrive in Cuba.
One other aspect that you should be aware of is that minors that accompany you need all to have their own Tourist Card. They cannot travel on your documents, even though some countries have this practice.
Cuba visa for the citizens of South Africa – processing time and fees
The cost of your visa depends on two factors: visa type and processing time. The former is easy to establish because all non-US travelers need to go for the International Tourist Card. As far as the latter is concerned, you can choose one of the three available options iVisa gives you, and they are as follows:
-
Standard processing – your application is processed, and your Tourist card arrives in 3 to 5 business days. This processing time costs $55.
-
Rush processing – your Tourist card arrives within 1 to 3 business days, and the cost is $75.
-
Super Rush processing – you will have your Cuba Tourist card in 1 business day, and you will be charged $95. The shipping is included in the price in all three cases.
As you can probably notice, getting a Cuba visa for the citizens of South Africa has never been easier. The fact that you can apply online saves you a lot of time and effort, and iVisa will do all the hard work for you. The Cuba Tourist card allows you a maximum 30-day stay in Cuba, and you have a single entry. You should probably know that once you arrive in Cuba, you can apply for an extension that cannot exceed 30 days.
