Planning a trip to Cuba also entails getting a visa. There are a few visa-exempt countries whose nationals can travel only with their passport, but the rest of the people need a Tourist card or a Tarjeta del Turista to cross the border. To find out which category you belong to, feel free to use iVisa’s Visa Checker. Choose your nationality from the drag-down menu and Cuba as your destination, and you will find out in just a second. That way you will know what to do next. After everything is clear, you can apply for your visa. While there are several ways to obtain a Cuba Tourist card, the easiest one is to apply online.

What do I need?

When you apply online for a Cuba Tourist card, you do not need much. iVisa asks very little of you, and that is to provide some information about yourself. You need to fill in an online application form with your name, address, e-mail address, and a few other pieces of information. It should take you just a few minutes. However, when you get to Cuba, you will be asked to present the following documents:

  • Passport – the passport needs to be valid for another 6 months from your date of arrival in Cuba.
  • Tourist Card – the one that you get from iVisa after you apply.
  • Your flight itinerary
  • A copy of your travel insurance – this has become a mandatory requirement since 2010.

As long as you have everything, you can rest assured that you will not experience any issues at the border.

How can I apply?

All you have to do is access the application page that iVisa has created for you. The application form is very easy to complete, and you should not spend more than 10 minutes doing it. There are two simple steps you need to go through, and if you need some help, iVisa has an excellent support service that you can contact 24/7.

The first step requires you to provide your personal information. At this point, you are also asked to choose a processing time, but keep in mind that your choice affects the visa’s cost. Here are your options:

  • Standard processing – your application will be processed and your Tourist card delivered in 3 to 5 business days.
  • Rush processing – your Tourist card will arrive within 1 to 3 business days.
  • Super Rush processing – you will have your Cuba Tourist card in 1 business day.

The second step consists of revision and payment. Reviewing everything you filled in during step one is crucial because you cannot make any correction if your application has reached processing, and that happens very fast so your window of opportunity will be closed quickly. Double-check your information before you submit the form. As for payment, iVisa provides something that an embassy will not, and that is many available means of payment. You can use a credit/debit card, PayPal, WeChat, or Alipay. After that is done, you can submit your application and then wait for the confirmation letter via e-mail. After that, your Tourist card will arrive via the delivery method you chose in the timeframe you selected.

Surely you can agree that the online application process is a lot easier to complete than any other method. iVisa will take all the bureaucratic hassle out of your hands so that you can enjoy a lovely experience. The Tourist card allows a single entry, and you can stay for maximum 30 days in Cuba unless you are a Canadian citizen, in which case you are granted a 90-day stay.
