Updated on May 14, 2024

From November 2023, travelers to the Schengen Zone will require ETIAS approval. Here's everything you need to know about the ETIAS application process and requirements for Peruvians.

Planning a dream vacation in Europe soon? One of the most popular destinations for Peruvians has always been European countries in the Schengen area.

However, this means Peruvians will need to apply for an ETIAS from November 2023. If you're nervous about the ETIAS application process, keep reading to find out all the important information you need about the ETIAS for Peruvian passport holders.

For more practical details about the ETIAS process and application, also read our ultimate guide to ETIAS.

Fill me in

What is the ETIAS & how does it work?

ETIAS refers to the new European Travel Information and Authorization System. This travel permit enables the holder to visit any Schengen country and is valid for three years. The multiple entry document is not a visa.

ETIAS is an electronic travel authorization for those who do not need visas to enter the Schengen Zone of Europe, including Peruvian passport holders. The system will do detailed security checks of applicants and determine if they can enter EU countries without posing a security risk.

How long can a Peruvian citizen stay in Europe?

Citizens of Peru may stay in Europe for up to 90 days without a visa. When ETIAS is launched, this should stay the same. Peruvians can continue to travel to Europe for short-term tourist visits, business, and transit purposes without applying for a visa.

However, Peruvian nationals will still need to register with ETIAS before visiting countries in the Schengen Area. If a Peruvian does not meet the ETIAS requirements or intends to stay longer than 90 days within a 180-day period, they will need a visa. If your visit is for reasons outside of tourism, business or transit, please check the relevant visa requirements for your cause.

Eligibility for the ETIAS visa waiver

Citizens of most South American countries, including Peru, will be eligible to apply for the ETIAS visa waiver. With an ETIAS visa waiver, Peruvian passport holders may enter any Schengen border and enjoy free movement within the zone.

ETIAS Application for Peruvian Citizens: Online Authorization

From November 2023, Peruvian passport holders can apply for ETIAS authorization online before traveling to the Schengen zone. This includes travelers going to Spain, Italy, and France.

Requirements for the ETIAS Application

Since the ETIAS authorization is not a visa application, Peruvian citizens will only need:

  • Your current passport

  • Copy of your personal information card to be attached where needed

  • Valid debit or credit card

  • Your email address

Applying for the ETIAS with a criminal record

Peruvian citizens may still apply for an ETIAS authorization with a criminal record. Make sure to explain your conviction in your ETIAS application. If you are denied ETIAS approval or your application is rejected, appeal to the Member State who denied the application.

ETIAS Visa Cost for Peruvian Citizens

We understand how tedious it can be to do the paperwork and application, especially if the ETIAS system has too much traffic when it launches. That is why we offer our services. The costs of the ETIAS authorization will depend on your preferred processing time. We offer the following:

  • Standard Processing time: Our standard option is also the most affordable.

  • Rush Processing time: If you prefer to get your ETIAS application processed a bit faster than the standard option, for an extra fee.

  • Super Rush Processing time: In case you are in a rush, choose this option for an express fee.

Other requirements for Peruvians

Please note that during the application process, there may be some health and security-related questions that Peruvian applicants will need to answer. Therefore, ensure you check all the details carefully before submitting the request; mistakes can cause delays or rejection.

Also, remember to check the current COVID-19 entry requirements, as they change depending on the country you want to visit. To check the specific requirements for the country you are traveling to, use the iVisa checker tool.

If you're all set to travel and ready, get your ETIAS via the iVisa ETIAS application.
