ETIAS Taiwan: Taiwanese citizens who decide to travel to Europe from 2023 must apply for a European Travel Authorization (ETIAS), pre-travel. You can apply for your ETIAS with iVisa

Europe is a dream destination for many Taiwanese passport holders. Traveling from Taiwan to the ancient continent is an opportunity to explore cities that are true gems, with so much history and, at the same time, fast development. From the relics of the past in Greece to the growing technology in Germany, from small villages in Denmark to the full-of-life capital of France, you can find the best of both worlds in the Schengen Zone.

From November 2023 onwards, a new travel document will be required to go to the EU from Taiwan: the ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System). This upcoming system will be implemented in the whole of the Schengen Area. The new Schengen visa will enable the sharing of European travel information via a secure Government system, to keep all borders safe.

iVisa provides customers with content and services to obtain all travel documents in the easiest way possible. So you can count on us to help you get your ETIAS and all the information you need for a smooth arrival. Keep reading to learn more details and how to apply for the new ETIAS for citizens from Taiwan.

ETIAS Taiwan: Traveling to the EU from Taiwan

Asia and Europe have both so much history and, at the same time, very distinct cultures. Therefore, traveling from one to another is diving into a new perspective. Until November 2023, travelers don't need to apply for a visa to enter most of the countries on the European continent. However, from this date onwards, the ETIAS will be required by the Schengen area nations, some other countries and member states.

The new document has a visa status, like a visa waiver. It will be applied for tourism, business, and medical visas. Once you have an EU ETIAS, it's valid for 3 years and allows multiple entries. Additionally, Taiwanese citizens with an ETIAS can travel to Europe for up to 90 days within a 180-day period.

The ETIAS is connected to the traveler's passport. As a result, once the validity expires, it's necessary to renew and apply for the document again. But you'll see that it's easy to submit the ETIAS application form. The process is online, so you can do it by app or website.

With a few documents and 15 minutes, you can apply on the iVisa website and receive the document in via email. We do the hard work, so you can save time and focus on planning the trip! Read below for more details.

Documents required for the ETIAS:

To visit a country in Europe, there are a few things that you must have on hand for the ETIAS application. Here is the list of what you'll need for your ETIAS:

  • A valid passport with at least six months of validity.
  • An e-mail address where you will receive your ETIAS results.
  • Debit or credit card to pay your ETIAS fee.

How do I process my ETIAS for citizens of Taiwan?

Once you have the application requirements on hand, you'll visit the website from your mobile device or computer. Find steps below for Taiwan citizens to submit for the ETIAS application:

  • First, go to the iVisa application page and fill out all the details that have been requested in the form. Select a processing time that suits your your travel needs.
  • Second double-check all the details you filled out in your ETIAS. Then, pay the ETIAS fee through debit or credit card.
  • Third, and finally, after uploading all the requirements, click the 'submit' button. As soon as your ETIAS is processed, you'll receive the document in your e-mail.

ETIAS Fees and processing times

iVisa offers three different options of ETIAS processing time with different pricing structures:

  • Standard processing time: This is an option if you apply in advance and have enough time before travel. It means you can get your ETIAS at a low cost, though you have to wait a few days.
  • Rush processing time: The rush processing option allows you to have the ETIAS in a short time. It's a good choice if you are in a hurry.
  • Super rush processing time: If it's a last-minute trip and you need to receive your ETIAS ASAP, this is the best option to get it on time.

Why was this travel document implemented?

The ETIAS has been introduced to increase the level of security within European borders by countries and member states of the Schengen area, as well as countries from the EU and non-EU.

The ETIAS system will analyze the travelers' records before they go to Europe and share their travel information between the countries. The data from each passenger will be checked against international and European security databases. For example, ETIAS Watchlist, Interpol, and Europol will be alert if they find something wrong in the traveler record.
