What is the Hungary ETIAS?

The Hungary ETIAS is a digital travel document required for non-European travelers from specific countries under the Hungary ETIAS visa waiver program. This document grants access to all 30 European countries and 4 microstates including those in the Schengen Agreement, the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) on the Schengen Agreement, Future Schengen Member Countries, and the European Microstates With Open Borders.

The ETIAS is designed to improve border control and monitor global visitors.

What can I do in Hungary with an ETIAS Travel Authorization?

With the Hungary ETIAS, you can explore the country for various purposes, such as:

  • Engage in short courses or training sessions lasting no more than 90 days.

What can you not do with an ETIAS in Hungary?

Please be aware of the limitations enforced by ETIAS in Hungary, which include the following restrictions:

  • Employment is not allowed

  • Educational pursuits are prohibited if they exceed the 90-day courses permitted -

  • Participating in an internship or engaging in student employment is prohibited in Hungary with the ETIAS.

  • Temporary or permanent residency in Hungary is not permitted

The ETIAS is tailored for travelers from countries currently enjoying the Hungary visa waiver program, allowing them to enter the Schengen and EU Area without a visa.

Starting in 2024, citizens from a range of eligible countries will be required to obtain an ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System) to gain access to the Schengen zone.

Citizens from Schengen Area nations do not need an ETIAS for Hungary. However, non-EU nationals who do not meet ETIAS requirements may require a valid visa.

Can Minors apply for a Hungary ETIAS?

Yes, regardless of age every passport holder must secure an ETIAS to visit Hungary and other Schengen countries. Parents or legal guardians can complete the ETIAS application form on behalf of their children.

ETIAS Hungary validity: How long is the ETIAS Hungary valid for?

The ETIAS has a validity period of three years. If your passport expires before your ETIAS, you must reapply for travel authorization with your updated passport.

The ETIAS allows you to stay in any eligible country for a maximum of 90 days within a 180 day period. It is a multiple-entry document.

Can I extend my ETIAS Hungary?
