Updated on May 14, 2024

Every country changes its policy on international travel and entry once in a while, especially if it is a big nation and there are a lot of travelers who want to visit that country. The policy amendments we’re talking about today are in response to the varying security conditions and challenges that every nation encounters, including potential terrorists and illegal immigrants which can be security risks in the future. This is especially true for the Schengen Zone, a region of economically stable countries that are popular tourist destinations as well.

Fill me in

This is why the European Commission established the ETIAS, including the Iceland ETIAS for Citizens of Peru, in order to make it easy for citizens of certain countries with visa waiver privileges to enter and move within the territories of Schengen member countries. This system also makes it easy for border officials to enforce security measures by completing the vetting process before the traveler has even boarded the plane bound for Iceland and other Schengen countries. The name ETIAS is the short form of European Travel Information and Authorization System, and it will be responsible for making sure that security lapses and illegal immigration don’t happen again.

What are the qualifications for a traveler to get an ETIAS?

A person who is a citizen of one of 62 countries enjoying visa waiver benefits with Schengen countries. These travelers will not need a visa to be allowed entry into the Zone, which means that security personnel at the airport or any point of entry won’t know about them until they are actually being inspected before entry. This could be a recipe for a major security breach as there might be people with nefarious intentions and backgrounds but they are not checked before they get on the plane. All citizens of these 62 countries need to have authorization from the ETIAS before they can travel to the region. And that means that Peruvians need an Iceland ETIAS for Citizens of Peru if they intend to travel to Iceland.

How many ETIAS authorizations will I need?

Every eligible traveler needs only one authorization. That authorization will allow the person to enter and leave any Schengen country at will, provided they follow the policy on duration of stay. The Iceland ETIAS for Citizens of Peru can last for years so there are lots of chances for the traveler to use it.

How long can the ETIAS let you stay in Schengen countries?

An Iceland ETIAS for Citizens of Peru can authorize a traveler to reside inside the Schengen Area for a period of not more than 90 days, counted within a space of six months. This is known as the 90/180 rule and is based on the rule of the same name adopted by the Uniform Schengen Visa. No matter the validity of the authorization, the length of stay must not exceed the 90/180 rule.

How does the ETIAS work?

Before the ETIAS approves your application for the Iceland ETIAS for Citizens of Peru, you will first need to complete the application form found on iVisa.com. Once you have filled in the form and paid for the transaction, iVisa.com will forward the application to the ETIAS central unit for assessment. It may take from 4 days to 4 weeks for you to receive the authorization, depending on the information needed.

Is there a convenient way to get my ETIAS authorization?
