If you do not have enough time before your departure to Mexico, you can get a Mexico tourist card when you land in Cancun. You will receive an application form on the plane, or you can pick one up at the airport. Just make sure that you fill it in before you get your turn at the service counter. When you get there, just hand in the form and pay the fee, and you are free to enjoy your vacation in Mexico. However, we recommend that you apply online for a tourist card before you leave for Mexico. That way, you can avoid standing in line. iVisa can help with the process.
How to apply for a Mexico tourist card online
The online application process is more accessible than you think. Sure, when you apply online, you need to pay for the service, but we believe that you will find it worthy. The first thing you need to do is to make sure that you have everything for a successful application process. You only need the following:
-
Valid passport – a Mexico Tourist Card application process cannot happen without a passport. Plus, the document needs to remain valid for at least another 6 months from the date of arrival in Mexico. Check its expiry date before you apply.
-
Airplane ticket – this requirement is valid only if you travel by air. If you choose to travel by land, you can ignore this condition.
-
Method of payment – the Mexico tourist card application process is entirely online, which means it makes sense for the payment to be made online as well. You can use a credit or a debit card, but iVisa accepts PayPal, Alipay, and WeChat as well.
-
E-mail address – iVisa will send you the tourist card via e-mail in PDF format. Do not forget to print at least one physical copy before departure.
The next thing on the checklist is the application form. This should not take you very long, and if you need help along the way, iVisa has excellent customer support. You can contact them 24/7 and you do not have to pay a penny.
The form in question consists of three steps. The first one asks for your personal information, travel details, and passport info. You must also select a visa type (by air or by land) and a processing time option. Both those factors affect the cost of your Mexico tourist card. As for processing, you are presented with three options:
-
Standard processing – your application is processed within 24 hours, and you are charged $20.
-
Rush processing – it only takes 2 hours for your Mexico tourist card to be ready, and you must pay $40.
-
Super Rush processing – this is the fastest and most expensive option. Your application is processed within just 30 minutes, but you need to pay $60.
During the second step of the application form, you need to make the payment and revise your form so that it does not include any mistakes. You cannot correct your application after it reaches processing, and errors will invalidate your tourist card.
The third step will ask you to upload the supporting documents for your application. Once you are done with that as well, you can submit your form and iVisa will handle the rest.
The bottom line is that you can get a Mexico tourist card in Cancun when you arrive, but the question is why would prefer to stand in a queue when you can solve this issue before you start your vacation? The online option is much more convenient and iVisa is incredibly helpful with the application process.
