Questions?
Will my criminal record affect my application?
Lee C, USA | July 7, 2024
I want to apply online for the visa on arrival for the ease of getting through the airport, but I’m afraid I have a criminal record. Nothing too serious, just a misdemeanor from a few years back. Would this make it that much harder to get a visa on arrival?
Martin, iVisa | July 10, 2024
Having a misdemeanor on your record may not necessarily prevent you from getting a Visa on Arrival in Nepal, especially if it's not related to serious offenses like drug trafficking or crimes involving moral turpitude. However, Nepal does consider the nature of offenses when processing visa applications, and it's important to be honest in your application. If your misdemeanor is minor, it might not significantly impact your ability to obtain a visa, but the final decision rests with the immigration authorities at the airport.
Can I pay the visa fee at the airport using Indian rupees?
Angie R, UK | July 18, 2024
I’ve applied for the visa on arrival online. I didn’t know that the visa fees are paid directly at the airport in Nepal. I’ve got some Indian rupees left over from a previous trip. Can I use them to pay the visa fee, or do I need to have US dollars or Nepalese rupees beforehand?
Cami, iVisa | July 20, 2024
When arriving in Nepal and paying for your Visa on Arrival, it's better to carry US dollars or Nepalese rupees. While the primary recommendation is to have USD for these transactions, at Tribhuvan International Airport, payments in Nepalese rupees are also accepted. It's better not to rely on Indian rupees for this payment to avoid any inconvenience, as they may not be accepted.
What kind of confirmation do I get after submitting the form online?
Mathilda F, Germany | July 23, 2024
I have a trekking trip to the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal. I’ve been looking into the visa on arrival process and think I’ve got it mostly figured out: you fill out the application form online before you go, and then pay the visa fee when you land in Kathmandu. But I'm a bit unclear about what happens after submitting the form online. What exactly do I receive after that—is it some sort of confirmation or receipt? Because I know it’s not the actual visa.
Martin, iVisa | July 26, 2024
After you fill out the online application form for the Nepal Visa on Arrival, you'll receive a submission receipt with a barcode. This is not the visa itself but serves as a confirmation of your application submission. You should print this receipt and bring it to the airport. Once at the airport in Kathmandu, you will complete the visa process by paying the required fee and presenting your documents at the immigration desk. The actual visa will then be issued to you by the immigration officer upon satisfactory review of your documents and payment.
