When you apply for a New Zealand visa, one thing that you need to make sure of is that you meet all the requirements. Lucky for you, New Zealand’s visa policy is pretty lenient, and the list of requirements is not long or challenging. As long as you cross the requirements off the list one by one and you pay attention, you should enjoy a successful visa application process. iVisa can help you with that.

Before moving on, you should check your eligibility. Perhaps you do not require a visa. 60 nationalities do not because New Zealand waived it. The rest of the nationalities qualify for an electronic visa. Use iVisa’s Visa Checker to see which category you belong to.

As far as the other New Zealand visa requirements are concerned, there is a list of things you need to have both before applying and when you arrive in New Zealand. They are as follows:

  • The first thing you need to cross off the list is the passport. The New Zealand passport requirements are easy to achieve. For one thing, your passport needs to be valid. You cannot possibly apply with an expired document, can you? However, the New Zealand visa policy also demands that your passport is valid for at least another 3 months from the date of departure from New Zealand. Usually, countries ask that the passport is valid for 6 months after the arrival date, but New Zealand is a bit different as far as this aspect is concerned. So what must you do? You probably know when you want to come back. Look at the expiry date of your passport and make sure that it does not lose its validity in the mentioned timeframe.

  • Digital photo of yourself – the picture needs to be as recent as possible and meet all the other guidelines for a passport photo. For example, it needs to be taken against a white background.

  • Means of payment – iVisa asks that you make the payment while you complete the steps of the application form. You can do that using a credit or a debit card, but you can also pay using PayPal.

  • E-mail address – iVisa sends you the visa via e-mail in PDF format. Do not forget to print a few copies so that you have a couple of spares.

  • Means of sustenance – once you arrive in New Zealand, you need to prove that you can provide for yourself during your trip. A bank account statement should be sufficient.

  • Return flight ticket – when you arrive at the airport, you may be required to show a return flight ticket to your country of origin (or another destination if you are in transit). If you do not have one, you need to prove that you have the money to buy one.

  • Another requirement is that you should disclose your criminal record. The rule does not involve parking tickets or misdemeanors, but felonies and prison time. So, if you know that you have a criminal history, you are prohibited from keeping it to yourself. You need to disclose that information. Special procedures may apply.

As you can see for yourself, the New Zealand passport and visa requirements are nothing out of the ordinary. The items on the list are easy to achieve. iVisa helps you with the application process so that you can get your New Zealand visa as soon as possible. Not to mention that going to an embassy would mean many more requirements. That is why most people choose to apply online if they have the chance.
