When you are in Nigeria, you cannot miss the Gashaka-Gumti National Park, considered the largest National Park in the country.

Its surface has 6700 square kilometers of rolling hills, savannahs, and mountainous forests. It is one of the places with the greatest diversity of primates in all of West Africa. In addition, you can also find elephants, lions, buffaloes, and hippos.

This National Park is open all year round; however, the best time to travel is from December to March during the dry season. We recommend booking the tour through the Gashaka Primate Project, an English conservation group, which is dedicated to protecting the watershed and all wildlife.

You can stay inside the National Park. However, you must bring your food as there is no kitchen. But if you want, you can visit a local restaurant and buy local food to try at the National Park.

There are two important activities to do in the National Park. The first is to explore the chimpanzee trail with a guide, where you can discover their living and eating habits. You can also have the opportunity to volunteer and stay for a while, helping to preserve the place.
