One of the requirements of applying for an Oman visa, online or at the nearest embassy, is that you provide a photo of yourself. The photograph needs to meet some standards, but it depends on the application method. When you apply at an embassy, generally, the photo needs to measure 2 by 2 inches, while when you apply online, the size does not matter because the picture is digital.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is an Oman eVisa?

It is an official document that provides authorization to travel to and from Oman. It is electronically linked to your passport.

What are the documents required to apply online?

Please provide the following documents and information:

  • Passport – when applying online, you need to have a valid passport and make sure the document is valid for at least another 3 months from your departure date.

  • Digital photo – the photo you send us must be a recent one. It must also meet the necessary standards of a passport photo.

  • Means of payment – we require the payment of the applicant during the application process by using a credit/debit card.

  • Email address – we will send you the visa via email in PDF format. So before your departure, print at least two copies of the eVisa.

What is the size of the photograph when you apply in the Embassy?

The size of the photo will depend a lot on where you apply for the visa. If you apply with the embassy, your passport photo should be 2 x 2 inches in size. In addition, you must follow a series of steps such as the background, lighting, clothing, and facial expression, among other things. If you go to a photo studio, you don't have to worry about anything, because the professionals will take care of everything.

And when you apply online with iVisa?

In most online applications, the photo requested should be as recent as possible and at least as sharp as possible so that the applicant's face can be seen. In addition, the photo is sent in a digital version, so you don't need to worry too much about this part. The photo you send us will be placed on the same page of the Oman government and it will remain in electronic format. This means that it will only appear on the computer. Unless you print out a version of your eVisa, the photo will not be needed in physical form.

There are two ways to get your digital photo: going to a photo studio or taking it yourself at home. If you choose the second option, we recommend that you take into account the following points so that the passport photo is the most appropriate:

  • Background– the photo needs to be taken against an entirely white background. Different colors may lead to rejection. Patterns are not accepted either

  • Facial expression – the only face gesture accepted for a visa picture is a neutral expression. Your mouth needs to be closed, and you cannot squint or frown.

  • Head position – your face should look directly at the camera. You cannot rotate or tilt it.

  • Lighting – the face must be illuminated by the camera’s flash. Shadows or red eyes are to be avoided.

  • Glasses – you should take your glasses off when you have your picture taken. You cannot risk any glare.

  • Headwear – the only situation in which headwear is accepted is when the person who has his or her picture taken wears something on his/her head for religious purposes. Even so, the face must be visible from the tip of the chin to the top of the forehead.

All these tips will help you know how to take the ideal photo for your eVisa. If you do not trust your photographic skills, then it would be better to contact a photo studio.

Are there other requirements that my photo must meet?

These are the additional requirements your passport photo must meet for an Oman eVisa:

  • Format – JPEG/PDF.

  • The height and width of the photo must be equal.

  • Photo should present Full face, front view, eyes open.

  • Center head within frame and present full head from the top of hair to bottom of the chin.

  • Background should be a plain light-colored or white background.

  • No shadows on the face or on the background.

  • Without borders.

In how many parts is the application form divided?

It has only three steps:

  1. The first step will ask you to fill in your general information. You also need to choose the processing time from the options mentioned above.

  2. The second step will ask you to revise step one and make the payment.

  3. The last step consists of a questionnaire and a photo upload. It is at this point that you need to upload your passport scan. Other documents may be required as well, but it depends on personal circumstances.
