Cape Verde Passport Photos and Visa Photo Requirements – Rules, Guidelines, and Specifications

The Cape Verde passport photo requirements you can see above are pretty clear. However, did you know that an improper passport photo is among the most common causes of rejection? That is why we consider that you should have as much information as possible at hand.

  • First, you have to choose the right setting in which to take the perfect passport photo or visa photo. The Cape Verde passport photo requirements ask for a white background. It cannot have colors, patterns, or shadows. You can pick a white wall in your house, and if you do not have one, you can always hang a white sheet. It should do the trick.
  • When you take your picture, you must be very careful about the position of your head. The camera should be at eye level for maximum exposure of your entire face. Keep your head straight. Tilting or rotating it is not allowed. Also, keep in mind that portrait-style pictures are not acceptable.
  • The best thing you could do when you take your passport photo or visa photo is to relax the muscles of your face. That ensures a neutral facial expression. Do not smile, squint, or frown.
  • When taking your passport photo, you must keep your eyes forward, looking into the camera. They are not to be obstructed in any way. If you have glasses on, you can wear them, but only if they do not create glare and the frames do not cover your eyes. Large frames may cover a good portion of your face, so you should take them off. Sunglasses, as well as glasses with tinted lenses, are not permitted in a passport photo.
  • The lighting is crucial for your passport photo. We all know what lighting can do to a face. It can alter some features. That is why you should choose a source of light that is right in front of you so that you do not appear with shadows on your face. It must not be too bright or too dark.
  • Headwear is acceptable only for religious reasons. However, your headwear should not form any shadows on your face. Also, your face must be clearly visible from ear to ear and from the bottom of your chin to the top of your forehead.
  • If you have a beard, you do not have to shave it unless it does not represent your everyday look. Any significant changes to your face must be done before taking the passport photo or visa photo.

Rules and Requirements for Babies, Infants, and Newborn Passport and Visa Photos

When it comes to passports and visas, the law does not discriminate based on age. All children need their own passport and visa when traveling abroad. Taking their picture may prove to be slightly more complicated than when dealing with an adult, but keep in mind that there are no significant particularities you need to keep in mind. The tips below should be of help, though.

  • When you put a baby on his/her back to take the passport photo from above, do not forget to place a white sheet underneath him/her.
  • If you put the baby in a car seat, put a white sheet on the backrest of the chair.
  • If the baby has a beanie or a pacifier, please remove them before taking the picture.
  • Make sure that the child is awake during the photoshoot.
  • Always remember that children must appear alone in the passport photo or visa photo. Even if you decide to hold your baby, you cannot be in the shot. Your hands must not be visible.
