Montenegro Passport Photos and Visa Photo Requirements – Rules, Guidelines, and Specifications

When you decide to take your passport photo at home, you cannot just do it without any knowledge. After all, there are rules and guidelines in place, and if you do not follow them, your picture will be rejected. Below, you will find everything you need to know about taking your passport photo at home.

  • We already said above that the background of the passport photo must be white. Not only must it be white, but it cannot contain patterns and shadows either. Most people use a white wall as a prop, but if you do not have one, you do not need to panic. Just take a white sheet that is not see-through and hang it on the wall. It is pretty much the same thing, and it serves the same purpose.
  • The environment in which you choose to take your picture must be well lighted. It cannot be too bright or too dark. Plus, you have to opt for a frontal source of light so that you do not end up with shadows all over your face.
  • It is best if you place the camera at eye level for the ideal angle. You must keep your head straight and your face forward. You must center your head as best as possible. Do not rotate it in any direction because both sides of your face must be equally visible. If you submit a portrait-style photo, it will be rejected.
  • You are not allowed to smile in your passport photo or visa photo. Nor can you squint, frown, or raise your brows. In fact, the only facial expression you can adopt is neutral.
  • Your eyes must be perfectly distinguishable in your passport photo or visa photo. Look straight into the camera when you take the picture. If the frames of your glasses are too large and cover a portion of your eyes, take them off. If not, check the passport photo for flash reflection. As you can imagine, you cannot appear wearing sunglasses or glasses that have tinted lenses.
  • Headwear is unacceptable. There is, however, an exception. If your religion forbids you from keeping your head uncovered, you can take your picture with headwear on. Just keep in mind that your face must be visible from the top of your forehead to the bottom of your chin and from ear to ear. The headwear should not cast shadows on your face, either.
  • It is not mandatory to shave your beard if that is how you usually look. The passport photo must represent your everyday appearance, and if that includes a beard, you can keep it.

Rules and Requirements for Babies, Infants, and Newborn Passport and Visa Photos

You will have to take your children’s pictures too if you want to travel together. They are not exempt from having their own travel document. But the tips below should help you with the passport photo or visa photo.

  • Photograph the child when he/she is awake so that the eyes are seeable.
  • In case your child sits in a car seat for the picture, do not forget to cover the backrest of the chair with a white cloth. The background still needs to be white.
  • If you want to take the photo from above while the baby lays on his/her back, remember to place a white layer underneath the baby.
  • You must remove the baby’s pacifier and headwear before taking the passport photo.
  • You cannot appear in your child’s passport photo or visa photo at all. If you want to hold your infant, wear a white shirt and make sure that not even your hands are in the shot.
