Updated on May 14, 2024

Unlike anywhere else, the European Union offers a variety of tourist experiences. Taste all the food in Italy or hop from island to island in the Mediterranean Sea in Greece. Get lost in the forests in Germany or marvel at the architecture in cities like Paris, Madrid, and Vienna. No wonder that many Bangladesh passport holders have Europe on their bucket lists!

In order to travel to any of these countries though, you will first need to apply for a Schengen Visa from Bangladesh. The benefit of this travel authorization is that it allows free travel between borders of the Schengen member states, so you can get one visa to explore them all.

Keep reading below for the ultimate guide to obtaining your Schengen Visa from Bangladesh, including the necessary documents, costs, processing times, and step-by-step instructions.

Everything you need to know about the Schengen Visa from Bangladesh

The Schengen visa is a travel authorization for those looking to go on short tourism or business trips to any of the Schengen Zone’s member countries. This visa allows multiple entries, for one stay of up to 90 days within a 180-day period in the Schengen area.

You can also use this visa if you’re looking to take a short course in a Schengen country, as long as the course is 90 days or less. However, if you’re looking to stay in Europe for an extended period, we recommend reaching out to the country’s embassy or consulate to process the right visa for you.

With the Schengen visa, you are not allowed to apply for jobs or work in Schengen countries.

All incoming travelers need to apply for a Schengen visa, including minors. As a parent or legal guardian it is your responsibility to obtain a visa on their behalf. It also may be required to upload the minor's birth certificate to prove your family relationship.

The Schengen visa is not a transit visa. If you need an airport transit visa, reach out to the appropriate embassy or consulate to get one.

Applying for a short-stay Schengen visa in Bangladesh

Once the Schengen visa process is available on iVisa in the near future, you can count on our team of experts to take care of processing your visa.

Generally, visa applications will be processed as follows:

  • First, fill out the online Schengen Visa application form with your personal information and travel details. Before you start filling out your application, please gather all your supporting documents. This way, you’ll have them on hand to make sure that all the information in the form is correct.
  • Second, double-check that all your details on the visa application form are correctly entered. Make sure your name, date of birth, and passport number are right. These are some of the most frequent mistakes and are reason enough for your visa to be rejected. We always ask customers to confirm their details to avoid setbacks or delays in the process.
  • Third, select your preferred form of payment. We accept all major credit and debit cards. Upload all the supporting documents and pay for the visa fee.

After we receive your application, team experts will carefully review it and ensure everything is perfect before processing it.

We’ll be in touch if we need you to correct any mistakes or if we need additional supporting documents like a birth or marriage certificate. Some travelers, especially if they’re traveling with minors or a European spouse, are required to present those.

If you’re traveling with children, you can easily add them to your application by clicking “Add another person” during the application process.

If at some point, you need to make an appointment to visit the embassy and speak to a visa officer, we’ll make sure to give you some recommendations to have a successful visit.

Types of Schengen Visas for citizens of Bangladesh

You can apply for a tourist or business visa from Bangladesh. The business visa can be used to attend meetings, events, or short training as well as to meet up with investors or potential employees. You cannot use this visa to apply for jobs or work in Schengen countries.

The tourist visa can be used to explore these countries as a tourist or to take short courses. Language courses are particularly popular among travelers because some of them offer activities, tours, and trips as part of the learning experience.

Required Documents for Schengen Visa for Bangladeshi passport holders

To obtain your Schengen visa you will need to submit the following documents and info:

  • Schengen Visa application form.
  • Copy of your current valid passport.
