Travel Registration is a service provided by the government. This service allows you to record information about your

What you need to know

The US Electronic Diversity Visa Lottery or Green Card Lottery is a program created by the Department of State.

It allows up to 55.000 randomly selected people to obtain a Green Card or permanent residency Paper Visa.

If you are selected and you win the DV Lottery Program, you will need to enter the United States within 6 months from the date of issuance of your new Green Card.

What is the US Electronic Diversity Visa Lottery?
The US Electronic Diversity Visa Lottery or Green Card Lottery is a program created by the Department of State that allows up to 55.000 randomly selected people to obtain a Green Card or permanent residency paper visa.
This program was created to receive more diverse immigrants from countries with a lower immigration rate to the US. The winners will receive a residence card, also known as a Green Card.

About the Diversity Visa
The Diversity Visa will allow you to live in the United States as a permanent resident. If you are selected as a winner, you must enter the country within six months from the date your new visa is issued.

Which countries can apply for the DV Lottery?

How can I apply for the DV Lottery Program?
To apply for this program, you must fill out a simple online form, available with us.

How long does the application process take?
Going through this process alone can take a long time since there are a few forms to fill out and many requirements to meet to get the Diversity Visa. The lottery winners normally get a notification 7 months after their application.
In addition, waiting to receive an interview at the embassy can take up to 14 months.

I’ve decided to take a shot at the Green Card lottery this year. I’m not sure how many or which family members I should include in the application form. Should I just list my husband and children, or can I include my parents and siblings too?

When applying for the US DV Lottery, you should include your spouse and any children who are under 21 years old and unmarried. These family members are considered derivatives who can obtain a Green Card if you win the lottery. You should include these family members in your application from the start, as failing to do so can disqualify you from the process.
You cannot include your parents, siblings, or any children over 21 years old in your DV Lottery application. If you win, these family members do not automatically qualify to move with you under the same application. However, once you are established in the US and possibly become a citizen, you can sponsor family members such as your parents for their own Green Cards through a different immigration process.

I really like that iVisa allows me to apply any time of the year. I’ve read that even small errors can get your application rejected and the US government won’t let you know where you went wrong. So which mistakes should I watch out for when I’m filling out the form?

Small errors can lead to disqualification, so be careful with your application. Some examples of common mistakes made include:
1. Submitting a photo that doesn't meet the specifications.
2. Failing to list all your dependents.
3. Providing inaccurate personal information that doesn’t match your passport or identification documents.
4. Submitting more than one entry per person leads to automatic disqualification. Each individual is allowed only one entry, though a husband and wife may each submit one entry if both meet the eligibility requirements.
5. Putting the wrong country of eligibility. Your application must correctly reflect your country of eligibility, which is usually your country of birth.

I’ve submitted my DV Lottery form. I was expecting to receive an email confirmation right after submitting it, but nothing has come through yet. Will I eventually get an email or something to confirm my submission? Or how can I make sure that I’m registered?

After submitting your DV Lottery form on our platform, we’ll send you a confirmation email with your name and a unique confirmation number.
When you apply directly on the US government website, you’ll see a confirmation screen with your name and confirmation number once you submit the form. Unfortunately, the US government doesn’t send confirmation emails, so saving this number is the only way to check your entry status later on.

My United States DV Lottery Entry Form has been canceled. What now?
Each person may only participate once per year in the DV Lottery! If you submit more than one form, you will be automatically disqualified; so, if your application is canceled, you need to wait one year to apply again.
Do I need a DV Lottery Entry Form if I’m only transiting through the United States?
Travelers in transit through the United States require valid C-1 visas or already having a visitor B visa.
I was born in a country that does not qualify; what can I do?
If you were born in a country that is excluded from participating in the United States DV Lottery you can claim chargeability to the country where your spouse was born. Likewise, you may be charged to the country of birth of your parents, provided that neither parent was resident of the ineligible country at the time of your birth. One example is that if you were born in India, a country that does not qualify, but your spouse was born in Thailand, you can claim Thailand as your country of birth (chargeability), then qualify to enter the Diversity Visa Program. To do this you must also include your spouse in your application.
What is the education requirement for the DV?
The DV Lottery requires the principal applicant to have a US school diploma or the equivalent of education, or two years of qualifying work experience as defined under provisions of U.S. laws.
Can a married couple each submit a separate DV Lottery Application?
A married couple may each submit a DV Lottery application separately, and if either is selected, the other would be entitled to a permanent resident card. This increases your chances of winning.
Can I apply alone, then add my family members after winning?
No. Do not leave out your spouse and biological or legally adopted children under 21. All immediate family members must be included in your initial entry. Failure to do so will lead to automatic disqualification.
