I just noticed a little (or major?) mix-up: my Vietnam eVisa starts on the 27th of July, but my flight's booked for the 26th. Do you think this will be a problem when I land in Vietnam a day early? Is there any chance I can sort this out right at the airport?

You can't enter Vietnam before the start date specified on your eVisa. If your eVisa starts on the 27th of July, you won't be allowed to enter on the 26th. It’s important to adjust your travel plans or apply for a new eVisa with the correct dates. Unfortunately, this can't be sorted out at the airport upon arrival; you need to have a valid visa from the beginning of your entry date.

I'm eyeing an “Eat, Pray, Love” kind of retreat in Vietnam to really reconnect with myself. I was thinking about the single-entry eVisa, but I'm not sure if it covers stays longer than 30 days. Should I apply for it, or is there another type of visa that’s better suited for my plans?

The single-entry eVisa for Vietnam is typically valid for 30 days. If you're planning a retreat that lasts longer than 30 days, the single-entry eVisa won't be sufficient. You might need to consider applying for the multiple entry 90-day visa that allows for a longer stay and gives you more flexibility.

Yes, the Vietnam eVisa is valid for entry by sea, as well as by air. You just need to make sure that you will be entering through one of the designated ports that accept eVisas. You can find the most up-to-date list of seaports on the official Vietnam eVisa portal

Otherwise, we do not refund the government fees.
