If you're from Ukraine and have your sights set on exploring Hungary, it's important to keep in mind that the upcoming Hungary ETIAS will soon be a mandatory entry requirement into the country.
We focus on simplifying your ETIAS application so you can concentrate on the exciting aspects of your travel, such as visiting the baroque architecture of Győr or enjoying the serene views at Lake Balaton.
You can relax and enjoy the anticipation of your trip, knowing the bureaucratic side of things is in capable hands.
Do citizens of Ukraine need a Hungary ETIAS?
Ukrainian citizens can currently travel to the Schengen Area, EFTA states, European microstates, and countries like Bulgaria, Cyprus, and Romania without needing a visa.
By mid-2025, however, Ukrainians planning to stay in Hungary for up to 90 days, whether for tourism, business, transit, or health-related visits, will need to apply for a Hungary ETIAS.
The European Travel Information and Authorisation System was created to strengthen security across the Schengen Area. Prior to this soon-to-be-implemented travel authorization, visa-exempt individuals could travel with just a passport, which limited the tracking of incoming visitors. With ETIAS, there’s an added layer of security through detailed pre-travel evaluations.
Many travelers often confuse the ETIAS for a visa. This couldn’t be further from the truth. The ETIAS will function like a pre-travel check, much like the ones already operational in the US, the ESTA, and in Canada, the eTA.
A significant advantage of the Hungary ETIAS is the door it opens to all the countries that are—and will be—part of the ETIAS system. If you're putting together your European travel plans, you'll have a whole list of places you can visit with your ETIAS, as shown on the map below:
