The Malaysia Digital Arrival Card is a registration form required by the Malaysian government for all travelers entering the country.

It's not a visa, but rather a document that provides authorities with your personal and travel details before arrival. The purpose of the Digital Arrival Card is to enhance border security and streamline the immigration process.

By filling out this card, you provide your name, passport details, and travel itinerary. Traditionally, this form would be completed upon arrival in Malaysia, often leading to longer lines and wait times at immigration.

However, with the digitalization of the process, travelers can now submit their information online before they go!

Entry requirements or restrictions to visit and exit Malaysia

The travel restrictions related to COVID-19 have been lifted for international travelers.

Malaysia doesn't allow dual nationality. To avoid entry issues, don't travel with both a Malaysian passport and another country's passport. If you hold dual nationality (excluding Malaysian), use the same passport to enter and leave Malaysia.

In Malaysia, you might be required to undergo a urine test if there's suspicion of drug use prior to your visit.

Testing positive could lead to detention, deportation, or a ban from future visits. Remember, you can face charges for consuming drugs even if it was done legally abroad.

I'm heading back to Malaysia for a visit—I studied there a while ago and really miss it! I was filling out the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card and noticed I have to specify my arrival and departure dates. What happens if I end up wanting to stay longer than the dates I put on the form? Is that going to be an issue?

The dates you enter in the MDAC generally indicate your planned period of stay. If you want to extend your visit past your original departure date, you can leave on your new travel date without any issues as long as it’s within the duration of stay stated on the entry stamp in your passport.

I’m headed to Phuket and my journey starts in New Delhi with a five-hour layover in Kuala Lumpur. Both flights are with Malaysian Airlines. Since I'm just hanging out at the KL Airport between flights, do I still need to fill out a Malaysia Digital Arrival Card or can I skip it?

For your layover in Kuala Lumpur, if you don't plan to pass through immigration (staying within the transit area), you won't need to fill out the MDAC. This card is required only when you're entering Malaysia, which includes going through immigration. So, for a simple transit at KL Airport without leaving the international transit area, you can skip filling out the MDAC.

My girlfriend and I are wrapping up our vacation in Bali and thinking about popping over to Kuala Lumpur for a couple of days. What are the entry requirements for British passport holders? Is the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card free, and do we only need to fill it out once for our stay?

As British passport holders, you generally don't need a visa for short visits to Malaysia. However, you must fill out the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card before your arrival, which can be done online. Each visit to Malaysia requires a new submission of the MDAC, so you'll need to complete it for each entry into the country. While the Malaysian government provides the MDAC free of charge, we charge a processing fee to complete it on behalf of our clients. When you choose to use our service, you're avoiding the stress that comes with filling out forms online. The application will be vetted by one of our visa experts before it's submitted to the Malaysian government to ensure it is accurate and error-free. The process is simple: 1. Visit the iVisa website. Start the application and enter your personal and travel details. 2. Pay the service fee and submit your application. 3. Once you’re successfully registered, we’ll send your MDAC via email.
