Entry requirements or restrictions to visit and exit Malaysia
The travel restrictions related to COVID-19 have been lifted for international travelers.
Malaysia doesn't allow dual nationality. To avoid entry issues, don't travel with both a Malaysian passport and another country's passport. If you hold dual nationality (excluding Malaysian), use the same passport to enter and leave Malaysia.

Questions?
Can I stay longer than the indicated dates on the form?
Noel B, Australia | July 2, 2024
I'm heading back to Malaysia for a visit—I studied there a while ago and really miss it! I was filling out the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card and noticed I have to specify my arrival and departure dates. What happens if I end up wanting to stay longer than the dates I put on the form? Is that going to be an issue?
Cami, iVisa | July 5, 2024
The dates you enter in the MDAC generally indicate your planned period of stay. If you want to extend your visit past your original departure date, you can leave on your new travel date without any issues as long as it’s within the duration of stay stated on the entry stamp in your passport.
Do I need an MDAC for a layover in KL?
Karina H, USA | July 8, 2024
I’m headed to Phuket and my journey starts in New Delhi with a five-hour layover in Kuala Lumpur. Both flights are with Malaysian Airlines. Since I'm just hanging out at the KL Airport between flights, do I still need to fill out a Malaysia Digital Arrival Card or can I skip it?
Cami, iVisa | July 10, 2024
For your layover in Kuala Lumpur, if you don't plan to pass through immigration (staying within the transit area), you won't need to fill out the MDAC. This card is required only when you're entering Malaysia, which includes going through immigration. So, for a simple transit at KL Airport without leaving the international transit area, you can skip filling out the MDAC.
Is the MDAC free?
Anthony T, UK | July 18, 2024
My girlfriend and I are wrapping up our vacation in Bali and thinking about popping over to Kuala Lumpur for a couple of days. What are the entry requirements for British passport holders? Is the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card free, and do we only need to fill it out once for our stay?
Martin, iVisa | July 21, 2024
As British passport holders, you generally don't need a visa for short visits to Malaysia. However, you must fill out the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card before your arrival, which can be done online. Each visit to Malaysia requires a new submission of the MDAC, so you'll need to complete it for each entry into the country.
While the Malaysian government provides the MDAC free of charge, we charge a processing fee to complete it on behalf of our clients. When you choose to use our service, you're avoiding the stress that comes with filling out forms online. The application will be vetted by one of our visa experts before it's submitted to the Malaysian government to ensure it is accurate and error-free.
The process is simple:
1.Visit the iVisa website or download the iVisa app. Start the application and enter your personal and travel details.
2.Pay the service fee and submit your application.
3.Once you’re successfully registered, we’ll send your MDAC via email.
